What is a ritual or way your family celebrated the seasons that you would like to continue with your new and growing family? Is there one you grew up with that you'd prefer to stop or evolve into something new?

Why It Matters

The holidays are often a time we stop and take stock. We share in rituals and customs that we grew up with, maybe ones our grandparents grew up with, and maybe ones that generations grew up with way back.
As we grow our new families, there are rituals and ways to celebrate holidays and family that might feel good to bring forward, and some that you might want to stop or change.
This is a possible topic of conversation with your person as we hone in on this time.

Some Examples

Nostalgia and Memory

My family spent time together, just being together- and I want that with my new family. We always traveled to see family, visit church/temple/mosque and that is something I want to do. My mother always hosted a party over the holidays, and friends stopped in. This feels great but may be hard to pull off right now..

Joy and Happiness

The music around the holidays makes me feel happy and gets me in the mood. Sometimes the music around the holidays drives me bonkers, and that is something I can do without.
